Truly, it was a memorable day for the Pensioners & Retirees of Union Bank of India that a grand movement of veterans of the Banking Industry became a reality with the birth of All India Union Bank Pensioners & Retirees Federation. It was also a happy occasion that the birth of this Federation was at the hands of the All India Union Bank Officers’ Federation (AIUBOF), in line with the directions of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) for promotion an Organisation to protect and nurture the well-being of Pensioners and Retirees of our Bank.

Historic First General Body Conference of AIBPARC Held in New Delhi on 25th November, 2012 – A Marvellous Display of Unity and Solidarity

It was a chilly winter morning in the capital city of New Delhi. Several hundred Senior Citizens of the Banking Industry thronged the Ram Jash School Auditorium in Paharganj, New Delhi. The volunteers from AIBOC, Delhi State Unit made elaborate arrangements and ensured that the delegates and other invitees were made comfortable. The ever smiling presence of Com. Harvinder Singh, General Secretary, All India Nationalised Bank Officers’ Federation (now General Secretary of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation) was a source of inspiration and satisfaction.

Chairman

Com. P B Thomas (born 26.11.1949),a post graduate in Economics, joined the services of Union Bank of India as a Probationary Officer at Perumbavoor Branch in 1975. Right from the initial days of his career, Com. Thomas evinced keen interest in the activities of the Officers’ Association. He had the fortune to work with stalwarts of Officers’ movement in Kerala like Com. P S Padmanabhan, Com. P S G Nayar and Com. S Mukundan. This association was instrumental in developing his leadership qualities and negotiating skills.

Com. N. Govindarajulu,
General Secretary

Com N Govindarajulu joined the services of the Bank in October 1972. Ever since he joined the Bank, he took active interest in Trade Union activities. He was promoted to the Officer cadre in 1977 and became the Central Committee Member of the State Unit in 1979. Under the guidance of senior leaders like Com Soundarajan and with the support of all the members, he took initiative and founded the Officers’ Co-operative Thrift and Credit Society in 1980.

Com. Suparna Bagchi,
Working President

Com. Suparna Bagchi was born in a Bengali family in the city of Kolkata. After graduating from the city’s prestigious Goenka College of Commerce, he joined Guest Keen Williams Ltd in 1965, where he had a stint of four years. However, fortune had something else in store for him. On 26th August 1969, Bagchi Joined Union Bank and continued his career in banking until his retirement in 2006, serving the Bank in various capacities.

Com. R. Suryanarayanan,
Former General Secretary

Com. R. Suryanarayanan, born on 05.02.1949, Graduate in Physics, joined the services of Union Bank of India on 05.11.1970 at Arkonam Branch, Tamil Nadu. He was promoted to Officers’ cadre in 1976, in the first promotion test conducted by the Bank and was declared No.1 in the State of Tamil Nadu. In 1977, he got elected as a Committee member of the Union Bank of India Officers’ Association, Tamil Nadu and in 1981 he was elected as Secretary of the Association.
